Foam-Filling is a process in which a pneumatic tire is injected & pressurized with a special 2 or 3 component urethane polymer and reinforcing filler in a precise proportion using a special metering pump. The polyurethane cures into a soft, resilient, synthetic rubber core replacing the air in the tire. The resultant foam-filled tire is thus rendered puncture proof and maintains the required tire pressure throughout its service life. Foam Filled Tires have a full footprint & are capable of carrying their rated load at all times.
The soft core is designed to provide a ride similar to air-filled pneumatic tires.
Foam-filled tires are suitable for underground mining equipment, aerial equipment such as boom lifts, man lifts and telehandlers.
Foam- filled tires are recommended when speeds exceed 25 km/hr or when haul distances are longer.
Special grade foam-filled tires are used for higher speeds up to 90 km/h and find application in defence vehicles where punctures can significantly comprise performance and lead to undesirable outcomes.
